Our Approach to Your Heart

SLUCare Physician Group heart specialists work together in a combined space to offer you a team approach to your care. Whether you need a cardiologist to monitor a heart condition or a surgeon to repair a heart valve, we have a specialist who will meet your needs.

Through a combination of our teamwork and advanced imaging techniques, we are better equipped to manage patients with complex coronary and peripheral arterial disease.

One of the biggest benefits to having all of the heart specialists working side-by-side is the collaborative approach they will take to your care. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, and your physician will never order a test or a procedure without your best interest in mind.

On the cardiology side, we have physicians with specialties in ablations, defibrillators, cardiac catheters, non-invasive cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, stress tests, echocardiography and more.

On the surgical side, we have board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiothoracic surgeons who perform heart valve surgery, mitral valve repairs, thoracic aortic surgery and treatment for atrial fibrillation. Our surgeons often take on high-risk cases that surgeons outside of SLUCare are not comfortable performing.

SLUCare's Heart Valve Clinic is just one example of how your heart condition can be treated by multiple physicians in one location. Some patients with valve disease experience other heart problems, such as atrial fibrillation. Our doctors are often able to treat valve disease and AFib simultaneously, which produces better outcomes for some patients. One of our doctors even helped develop a minimally-invasive technique called the hybrid maze to treat AFib.
